Introduction

In this Introduction, I’ll describe the hierarchy of entrepreneurs, what it’s like to be an entrepreneur and the traditional path of entrepreneurship.

I’ll also give you some bad news: Most First-Time Entrepreneurs Learn by Failing. But I’ll also give you some good news: It Doesn’t Have to Be That Hard.

In the rest of this eBook I’ll show you how to overcome the odds and become a Highly Successful Entrepreneur – and I’ll show you how to do so far more easily and quickly than you could any other way.

Chapter One

Based on my extensive research involving thousands of interviews with entrepreneurs around the world whom I analyzed with my tremendously powerful Arintel artificial intelligence data analysis system, there are only Four Entrepreneurial Unconscious Personality Types.

In this chapter, I’ll describe each of them. See which one most clearly describes you.

Chapter Two

The single most critical requirement for entrepreneurial success is having a Successful Entrepreneurial Personality. It is the bedrock of Highly Successful Entrepreneurship.

In this chapter, I’ll describe the fifteen characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneurial Personality.

Chapter Three

Having a Successful Entrepreneurial Personality is key. But are you born with it or can it be developed?

The answer is that there are four ways that you can develop the characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneurial Personality. The first three are what I’ll call traditional:

1. Observing, mimicking, trying and failing repeatedly.
2. Being mentored.
3. Living and working in an Entrepreneurial Hotbed.

In this chapter, I’ll describe each of these three ways in some detail.

The fourth way that I’ll describe will be new to you, a far more rapid and effective approach that I invented.

4. Direct accelerated development of a Successful Entrepreneurial Personality, a process that I’ll describe step-by-step in Chapters Four and Five.

Chapter Four 

A good place to start in developing your Successful Entrepreneurial Personality is to become aware that your Unrecognized Strengths are usually your greatest assets – but that you probably don’t pay much or even any attention to them.

This is definitely not a good thing for an entrepreneur.

Not paying attention to your Unrecognized Strengths is what I call “The Entrepreneur’s Disease” and it consists of assuming, usually incorrectly, that others have your important Unrecognized Strengths. When others do not have these strengths and you assume they do, you are setting yourself up for failure whenever you have to rely on them having them.

Becoming aware of both your Unrecognized and Recognized Strengths is the focus of this chapter.

Chapter Five

In this chapter, I will show you exactly how to get started with actually developing and/or enhancing your own Successful Entrepreneurial Personality.

I’ll give you a step-by-step guide to this innovative way of doing so.

Chapter Six

In this chapter, I’m going to shift gears from Personality to Skills. I will discuss the four Key Entrepreneurial Success Skillsand the five Component Skills that underlie them.

These are the Skills that you will need to develop, if you don’t already have them, in order to become a Highly Successful Entrepreneur.

Chapter Seven

In order to teach you to express the Four Key Entrepreneurial Success Skills – Entrepreneurial Management, Entrepreneurial Leadership, Entrepreneurial Marketing and Entrepreneurial Sales – at the required level of expertise, I break them into a series of simpler Component Skills.

So I am first going to list these Component Skills and will then describe how to start expressing each.

Chapter Eight

In this Chapter, I will show you exactly how to Develop your Entrepreneurial Success Skills.

First, I’ll describe a generalized process that works to develop any kind of skill. I will then show you, in a step-by-step fashion, how to apply that process to Developing the Entrepreneurial Component Success Skills and the first two Key Entrepreneurial Success Skills that I described in Chapters Six and Seven.

Chapter Nine 

Where you invest your entrepreneurial energies is a key decision in becoming a Highly Successful Entrepreneur.

From my perspective, to be worthy of that investment, you must have a focus, a Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture. At the very least, this should trigger your Passion, build on your Recognized and Unrecognized Strengths and successfully address an appropriately large and profitable market with a new slant, an Edge.

I am going to assume in this chapter that you haven’t yet found that focus and I will describe three ways of homing in on the core of that focus or what I call the Germ of your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture.

Next, I am going to show you, step-by-step, how to implement the most effective of those ways, Inventing the Germ (core concept) of your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture.

Finally, I will start you on Tempering your Germ into a Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture that is worthy of implementation. To do this, I’ll show you how to draw to you a Peer Group of relevant Entrepreneurs and how to work with them to construct a White Lines Map of what you absolutely must do to be successful and what you absolutely must avoid doing to avoid failing in your Venture.

Chapter Ten

In Chapters Six and Seven, I described the four Key Entrepreneurial Skills and the five critically important Component Entrepreneurial Skills involved in developing them. And in Chapter Eight, I taught you to actually develop the first two Key Entrepreneurial Skills  – Entrepreneurial Leadership and Entrepreneurial Management.

Now, I am going to discuss the first of the two remaining Key Entrepreneurial Success Skills, Entrepreneurial Marketing.

The first and most crucial aspect of this is clearly understanding and intuitively internalizing your Market. I am going show you, step-by-step, how to do this using an extremely powerful process I invented, Clustering Market Analysis (CMA).

This will lead you through developing a profound intellectual understanding of the people who are actually most likely to buy your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture’s product or service, your High-Probability Prospects and their Value Structures.

I will next guide you, step-by-step, in homing in on an initial series of specific High-Probability Prospects so you can leap out of the starting gate when it’s time to implement your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture.

I will then show you a step-by-step process for Tempering the Germ of your product or service by brainstorming with the most typical of those High-Probability Prospects to make it much more attractive to them and millions of others like them.

And finally I will guide you through a process of Educating Your Intuition so that you will be able to begin to intuitively recognizing your High-Probability Prospects when you encounter them.

Chapter Eleven

In Chapters Nine and Ten, I led you through the first two steps involved in Tempering your Germ to bring it to the point where it is worthy of implementation as your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture.

In this chapter, I will show you how to take the third step along that path, Inventing an “Edge” for your Venture, something that clearly and very productively differentiates it from all other businesses in your chosen market area, thus giving your Venture a major advantage.

Chapter Twelve

In Chapter Ten, I taught you basics of the most powerful marketing process going, Clustering Market Analysis (CMA). This process harnesses the tremendous power of your Unconscious and its database of billions and billions of incredibly rich observations that it has continually made of people throughout your entire life, both physically and psychically.

In this chapter, I will show you, step-by-step, how to use CMA to effectively isolate new High-Probability Prospects, the only ones that you should henceforth focus on, and to map their Value Structures and needs. I will also show you how to isolate the Low-Probability and Phantom Prospects, the types you should actively avoid.

The final output of the CMA Process is an extremely effective Intuitive Map of your Market, of your High-Probability Prospects and of their Value Structures. In this chapter, I will show you how to develop that Intuitive Map, in step-by-step fashion.

Chapter Thirteen

To become a Highly Successful Entrepreneur, you will need both Entrepreneurial Marketing and Entrepreneurial Sales Skills because if you lack them your Venture has a high probability of failing.

In Chapter Twelve, I taught you to use the most effective Entrepreneurial Marketing process. In this chapter, I will describe my extremely powerful Entrepreneurial Selling Process.

Entrepreneurial Selling involves Leading your High-Probability Prospects from where they are to actually purchasing your product or service. In this chapter, I will lead you through learning to do this, step-by-step.

The combination of these two sets of Skills, Entrepreneurial Marketing and Entrepreneurial Selling, together with what I describe in Appendix 1, is what I taught professional sales teams around the world that resulted in them each multiplying their total sales by 2 to 8 times in a single year or less. So it should give you a tremendous boost in making your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture highly successful.

Chapter Fourteen

Relying on faulty Assumptions is one of the major killers of entrepreneurial ventures – for example, Assumptions about the Market, about what to expect from yourself and your Team Members, about the availability of financing and about how long it will take to develop a product or service.

An Assumption is something you take as true even though you may lack good evidence for it currently being so. And very often a naïve Entrepreneur’s Assumptions are invalid or, even if they once were valid, are no longer so.

Because our Assumptions are manifested unconsciously, they usually operate outside of our conscious awareness. If that happens to an Entrepreneur, it can create very great problems – so great that relying on faulty Assumptions is a major killer of entrepreneurial ventures.

So this chapter is about becoming aware of, validating and tracking the continuing validity of your Assumptions so as to keep your Venture off the shoals of failure and sailing toward success. This is a major component of Entrepreneurial Risk Management.

Chapter Fifteen

It is not enough to be able to personally perform all of the tasks involved in implementing your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture. It is necessary to perform all of those tasks with excellence, something that almost certainly exceeds your own expertise.

This means that you will almost certainly need to build a Team to provide the expertise that you lack.

Your Team may initially consist of only you and one other person such as a great part time bookkeeper/administrative assistant. Or it may involve you and a core of experts having specific relevant skills and experience that you lack – depending on you, the nature of your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture and its Market.

In this chapter, I will show you, step-by-step, exactly how to define and draw to you such a Team of appropriately skilled, self-motivated, self-starting experts.

Chapter Sixteen

Management is the means by which you, the Entrepreneur, will turn the vision of your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture into reality.

It’s said that Management is the art of getting things done through people and that’s a critically important Skill. Even if you are the only person in your Venture, you must Manage yourself and your use of time, means and resources to accomplish the results you want.

However you will, at least eventually, have to Manage others. And, as compared with traditional management, Entrepreneurial Management is highly personal – where individual Strengths and Relationships prevail – as opposed to bureaucratic, where, at the extreme, everyone is a cipher, more or less instantly replaceable because they work at a low common denominator.

Done properly, Entrepreneurial Management involves your Team Members in Entrepreneurial Gaming – that is, in being enthusiastically and extremely committed to and involved with what they consider the best game in town, building your Successful Entrepreneurial Venture.

When I ran startups in Silicon Valley for Venture Capitalists, I built on my team members’ enthusiasm and joy of Entrepreneurially Gaming by Entrepreneurially Leading and Managing them.  I called it “Playing Pinball,” and Leading and Managing by Playing Pinball are key aspects of the Entrepreneurial Management Skills that I will teach you in this chapter.

Chapter Seventeen

In Chapter Sixteen, I pointed out various perspectives and techniques involved in successfully Managing the individual people in or otherwise contributing to your Venture. In this chapter, I will address Managing and Leading the same people acting as a Team.

A Successful Venture Team is made up of the self-directed, self-starting experts that should populate your Venture. Because of their Entrepreneurial personalities, they need lots of freedom to do things in their own way. You can effectively support them in doing so once you have ensured that they are all “looking in the same direction.” That is, once you have done what is necessary to ensure that they are all unconsciously and consciously focused on implementing the same very concrete Shared-Vision.

In this chapter, I will teach you an extremely powerful way that I invented of creating such a Shared-Vision, one that incorporates the perspectives, intuitive and logical knowledge, awareness of issues and resolutions thereof of every Member of your Team. The resulting Shared-Vision will not only make you and your Team much smarter, it will unconsciously Lead each of your Team Members in effective and efficient implementation of your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture, acting in unconscious coordination with and in support of each other.

Chapter Eighteen

In this chapter, I will focus on the Numbers Side of Entrepreneurial Management, describing and showing you how to use an approach based on Marginal Contribution Analysis that is ideally suited to running a startup Entrepreneurial Venture.

Marginal Contribution Analysis is one of the most powerful tools that an Entrepreneurial Manager can use to quickly understand what is going on in his or her Venture and the decisions to make in typical situations – in advance of historical financial reports.

In this chapter, I will explain Marginal Contribution Analysis and will show you a number of important applications.

It is an approach that enhances your Intuition in ways that give you a clear Intellectual Understanding of and an Intuitive Feel for quickly making correct decision with respect to many aspects of your Venture, often via simple “back of the envelope” analyses.

Chapter Nineteen

As I point out in Chapter Three, humans are “designed” to learn by making mistakes, as a young child does when learning to walk. That’s not a bad thing if you quickly recognize and correct your mistakes.

Avoiding and quickly recognizing and correcting their mistakes before they become failures is what Highly Successful Entrepreneurs do.

How you can do that is what I’ll discuss in this chapter.

Chapter Twenty

Some people say that Entrepreneurship is a high-risk activity. But I definitely don’t see it that way – assuming that you proceed in the way I describe in this eBook.

In the dictionary, risk is defined as “the possibility that something bad or unpleasant will happen.”

But from my perspective, risk definitely equals uncertainty. And the process of reducing that uncertainty is called Risk Management.

Thus, the most basic key to becoming a Highly Successful Entrepreneur is to reduce the uncertainty to the point where your and your Team’s Personality, Skills and Techniques are sufficient to successfully cope with the unexpected events that will inevitably arise.

That’s what every one of the Highly Successful Entrepreneurs I know has done.

Financial industry professionals call doing this Risk Management and that’s what I’ve been teaching you to do in this eBook.

In this chapter I will continue doing that by giving you some important tips that will sharply reduce your Risk in actually putting your Perfect Entrepreneurial Venture into operation.
